Avery Bottle Openers
In 1876 a black walnut tree was planted by a Corvallis pioneer J.C. Avery and 139 years later was cut down due to decay and safety concerns. The tree was donated to the Oregon State University's Forestry Department which brings us to 2015, the year of the black walnut. The majority of the tree went to furniture in newer buildings on the OSU campus but some slabs did go to the Wood Science & Engineering department. The team created two designs named after the founders of Corvallis, Joesph & Florence. The simple & useful product flew off the shelves and ended up carrying over into the next term. Thank you for the sponsors of 2015 OSU & the City of Corvallis.
